Brunello di Montalcino, the structured red wine from Tuscany's southern hills, demands patience and rewards it. Molino di Sant'Antimo's 2015 vintage is made from Brunello grapes (a clone of Sangiovese) grown in the limestone and clay soils around the medieval hilltop town of Montalcino. These wines are built on tannin and acidity, and they age gracefully over years.
This is a wine for the cellar or for pairing with substantial food, grilled meat, aged cheese, slow-cooked Tuscan stews. It will improve for years to come and is best approached with time either behind it or ahead of it.

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino presents a dark and alluring display of wild herbs and savory spice that gives way to both red and blackberry fruits, with notes of worn leather and smoke. On the palate, silky, cool-toned textures usher in pure black cherry fruit complemented by a mix of saline-minerals and brisk acids. The finish is medium in length and subtle, showing hints of fine tannin under pretty red berry fruit and inner floral tones, in a balanced effort that trades power for grace. (Vinous, April 2020)
The Molino di Sant'Antimo 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Paolus opens to a dark garnet appearance that keeps a good amount of the ambient light within. When you sip this wine, it offers a momentary interlude of sweetness that directly transfers to bright berry freshness, licorice and camphor ash. It wraps over the palate with delicate and silky intensity. However, all said and done, this wine offer accessible and near-term drinking appeal. The was bottled in August 2019 and was released in January 2020. Some 25,000 bottles were released. (Wine Advocate, January 2020)
A rich and round wine with lots of plum and chocolate, as well as hints of burnt orange. Full-bodied, round and juicy with a nice frame of chewy tannins. Drink from 2021. (James Suckling, September 2019)
