Brunello di Montalcino is Tuscany's most demanding expression of Sangiovese, and Molino di Sant'Antimo's 2021 vintage demonstrates why the region commands such respect. Made from the local Brunello clone, aged in oak for the time required by law, this is a wine built for patience and structure, the kind that rewards a committed palate and improves considerably over years in the cellar.
Very attractive on opening, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino Paolus pours a bright red/garnet hue and reveals cherry cordial, lavender, sweet sage, turned earth, and polished leather on the nose. The palate is medium to full-bodied and hearty, with ripe tannins and enough acidity to keep it lifted through the finish. It has a good deal of depth and intensity and should drink best over the next 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2041. (Jeb Dunnuck, February 2026)
