Kabinett sits at the lighter, more delicate end of the Mosel Riesling scale, and this bottling from Markus Molitor draws on the Klosterberg site in Wehlen. The White Capsule designation marks it as the drier expression in Molitor's color-coded system, a distinction worth knowing since the same vineyard can yield wines across a spectrum of sweetness. At 10.5% stated alcohol, it stays in classic featherweight Kabinett territory, even though 2020 was a warm growing season.

The nose leans ripe and lush, white peach flushed through with the cool, stony slate character that marks Riesling grown on these steep river slopes. On the palate it is a different animal: lean, taut, and densely packed, with a saline grip and a straight line of acidity that runs the length of the wine. There is real intensity of flavor here despite the low alcohol, and the whole thing is tightly wound at present. Give it several years in the cellar to unwind.
