Albariño reaches its clearest expression in Rías Baixas, the cool, Atlantic-influenced corner of Galicia in northwest Spain, and this bottling comes from Cambados in the Salnés valley, the varietal's heartland. Made by Bodegas del Palacio de Fefiñanes, whose Albariño was first registered as a brand in 1928, the 2025 is fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and the profile precise. Grapes come from growers around Cambados, and the house has long favored a vibrant, classically styled white over anything heavy or worked.
Expect a steely, medium-bodied wine that leans on citrus and orchard fruit, grapefruit and pear alongside a touch of pineapple, with floral hints threaded through. There is a soft saline note that reads as unmistakably coastal, and a creamy texture that softens the wine's natural cut. A faint fennel lift and a slightly austere edge give it seriousness, and the finish suggests it will fill out with a little time in the bottle.

The 2024 Albariño de Fefiñanes is from Cambados in Salnés, Rías Baixas. This has a lightly oxidative profile with pear, apple and floral notes. It is medium-bodied and slightly austere, with soft salinity and floral hints. This was recently bottled and should gain in the medium term as the finish hints at aromatic precursors. (Vinous)
Albariño de Fefiñanes was first registered as a brand in 1928, and the original label and Rhine bottle have been preserved ever since. The grapes are sourced from local growers around Cambados (Salnés) and consultant Cristina Mantilla makes sure the wine retains a fresh, vibrant style, often enhanced with fennel notes. Wine lovers should also try the complex III Año, which is aged on its lees and released in its third year.
Stainless steel fermented, the 2024 Albariño de Fefinanes is from an excellent vintage, steely and classic in style, with concentrated flavors and aromas. It was fairly tropical year with a warm summer in the region, and the characteristics here reflect that, trafficking in citrusy grapefruit, pineapple, and mango, with an easy palate of creamy texture. Drink now. Now run by the third generation, this winery is based in the palace grounds and inspired by the whites of Germany, bottling their Albariños in Riesling bottles.
