Nebbiolo grown in Bussia, one of the more storied crus of the Barolo zone in Piedmont, takes on a particular density here. This is Marco Parusso's 2020 rendering of that site, a wine that keeps the grape's high-toned aromatics while carrying the fuller body and concentrated fruit that a warm growing season tends to give.
Elegance and power sit together in the glass. Rose petal, mint, orange peel and lavender arrive first, trailed by blue and dark fruits and a run of balsamic notes that keep shifting as the wine opens. There is an offbeat, almost exotic streak too, rose water, honey cake, waxy candy and syrupy bramble, the kind of kaleidoscopic range that rewards slow drinking and a bit of air.
