This Italian vermouth comes from Turin, where Carpano has been blending wines and botanicals since the 19th century. Punt e Mes (meaning "point and a half" in Piedmontese) is a richer, more assertive take on the vermouth style, built on a base of wine infused with herbs, spices, and a noticeable bitter edge that sets it apart from its drier cousins.
The result is complex and angular, dry but with a warming spice character, bitter orange notes, and a herbal grip that demands attention. It's excellent as an aperitif on its own with ice and a citrus twist, but its structure and backbone make it particularly suited to cocktails where it can stand up to spirits and other modifiers rather than recede into the background. Works beautifully in a Manhattan or Negroni variation.
