Sold at the annual charity auction of the Hospices de Beaune, this Cuvee Gaugain comes from the Santenots vineyard, a Volnay premier cru on the Côte de Beaune, bottled here under the Romane et Clement label from the 2021 vintage. It is red Burgundy, which means Pinot Noir, and Volnay is the appellation known for the more perfumed, silken side of the Côte de Beaune rather than its heavier structure.
