Description
A Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon built in the classic Bordeaux mold, this 2020 from Silver Oak Cellars leads with Cabernet and rounds the edges with a measure of Merlot (just under 15 percent), plus small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The result is a full-bodied red made in a polished, composed style, poured well now and holding the structure to reward some cellaring.
What stands out is how creamy and detailed it is, with red fruit in abundance: raspberry, cherry cream and blueberry, laced with subtle oak toast and a note of café au lait. There's a perfumed lift here too, rose petal and currant edged with coriander seed, orange zest and white pepper. The tannins are firm but already well integrated, framing the fruit without drying the finish, and the whole thing drinks with a delicacy and balance that belie the wine's underlying build.

A super creamy, delicious and detailed red with oodles of red fruit, silky tannins and a full body. It tastes pure, fresh, almost delicate, offering raspberries, cherry cream, blueberries, cafe au lait and subtle oak toast on the palate. A gentle, layered, pretty wine that seems not at all affected by the wildfire smoke that year. Drinkable now, but best from 2030.
Simply remarkable. Perfumed rose petals and currant fruit lead the way, complemented by coriander seed, apricot pit, orange zest and white pepper. It features firm yet already well-integrated tannins that frame a beautifully balanced, effortlessly drinkable wine. There’s no drying tannin on the finish, defying expectations. Instead, it remains true to Silver Oak’s signature style: well built, consistent and impressively composed. What a feat. The blend includes 14.8% Merlot, 1.8% Petit Verdot, 1.4% Cabernet Franc and 0.4% Malbec
