Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley tends toward the riper end of the grape's spectrum, and this 2023 bottling from St. Supéry, sourced from the Dollarhide estate vineyard, splits the difference cleanly. Most of the wine was fermented in stainless steel, with a small portion (about 15%) done in French oak, a combination meant to keep the fruit bright while lending a bit of roundness underneath.
The nose opens on grapefruit and passion fruit, with a curl of pencil shavings and green herbs, then fills in with riper fig and melon. It's medium-bodied and juicy, carried by honeyed citrus and a faintly silky texture that adds a little intrigue to the finish. An easygoing, versatile white for the dinner table.
