Aged in cask for roughly a decade before bottling, this tawny Port from Taylor Fladgate comes out of Portugal's Douro Region, built from the traditional blend of indigenous red grapes that defines the category. The years in wood are what set a tawny apart from its fruitier ruby cousins: oxidative aging mellows the color toward amber and coaxes out the nutty, dried-fruit character that ten-year tawnies are known for, a fortified red meant to be poured in small, generous measures.
