Taylor Fladgate's 2019 Late Bottled Vintage Port comes from Portugal's Douro region. LBV Port, by definition, spends four to six years in barrel before bottling, developing depth and approachability without the intensity of a vintage-dated release. This is made from the house's signature Port blend.
The wine shows complexity across a dark fruit spectrum, with black currants and ripe black fruits layered alongside crushed violets, coffee liqueur, and mineral notes of wet stone and earth. It's full-bodied and concentrated, but restrained in its sweetness, with firm tannins that carry walnut character and give the wine real structure. The palate is lively, the finish long and mineral-driven. This reads as a sophisticated Port that balances power with finesse, drinking well now but capable of holding if you prefer to cellur it.
