Cabernet Franc rarely gets to stand alone in Tuscany, but the Campo di Camagi parcel at Tenuta di Trinoro is planted entirely to it, and this 2023 bottling is a pure varietal expression under the Toscana IGT designation. The vines grow at high density, some 10,000 plants per hectare, on shallow topsoils of limestone and quartz over clay, at around 550 meters of elevation. That combination of thin, mineral-driven soil and altitude is what the estate leans on for aromatic intensity, and it shows.
Bold and expressive, this opens with soaring aromatics and a strong mineral streak that gives the wine real energy. There is a dark, inky core of concentrated fruit here, plums, black cherry and blueberry, threaded with earth, leather, dried flowers and a faintly smoky, ashen note. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, with firm, velvety tannins and a saline lift that keeps everything driving forward. It builds in the glass, gaining proportion and length, and while it drinks well now, another couple of years

The 2023 Campo di Camagi is bold, punchy and super expressive. Soaring aromatics and strong mineral accents are its signatures and add tons of energy. This pure Cabernet Franc builds beautifully with time in the glass as streaks of minerality lend proportion and a saline-infused drive resonates. Thin quartz and limestone soils on clay in this parcel exalt aromatic intensity. (Vinous, April 2026)

A very savory and vinous wine with aromas of of plums, black cherries, blueberries, earth, minerals, leather, dried flowers and ash. Full-bodied, it shows firm, velvety tannins on the mid-palate. It’s powerful yet balanced by supple fruit, juicy acidity and a long, layered aftertaste. Drinkable now, but best in two or three years. (James Suckling)
