Cabernet Franc rarely stands alone in Tuscany, where it more often plays a supporting role in a blend, but here it fills the whole frame. This is a single-varietal bottling from Tenuta di Trinoro, labeled Toscana IGT and drawn from the Campo di Magnacosta parcel, a small plot of about a hectare and a half planted densely on an old gravelly river bed. The 2023 was fermented in stainless steel and aged in a mix of barrique and cement, an approach that lets the fruit speak without heavy oak. Production is small.
There is a generous, softer edge to this vintage, with richness that runs straight from the nose through the palate. Blackberry preserves, baked plum and sweet spice lead, shaded by darker notes of mocha and espresso and lifted by rose petal through the middle. The brighter, more saline side of the grape holds it all in check: red cherry, iron, chalk, a flick of mint and white pepper, and a squeeze of blood orange. The close turns flinty and mineral, all crushed stone and cooling embers, so the structure keeps pace with the fruit.

The Tenuta di Trinoro 2023 Campo di Magnacosta is a 100% Cabernet Franc fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of barrique and cement. The wine shows a broader margin of softness and richness that carries seamlessly from bouquet to palate. Aromas and flavors recall blackberry preserves, baked plum and sweet spice, while flinty notes of crushed stone and fire pit ember emerge on the close. Sourced from vineyards planted at a dense 10,000 vines per hectare, this wine balances generosity with structure. Production is limited to 2,262 bottles. (Wine Advocate, February 2026)
The 2023 Campo di Magnacosta is laced with sweet red cherry, iron, chalk, mint, white pepper and blood orange. The brighter, more saline side of Cabernet Franc comes through loud and clear. Mocha, espresso and rose petal inflections build through the mid-palate and finish. Magnacosta emerges from a 1.5-hectare parcel planted on an old, gravelly river bed. (Vinous, April 2026)
