Vina Vik's Milla Calla is a Cachapoal Valley red blend anchored by Cabernet Sauvignon, with supporting roles for Carménère, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The wine spent twenty months in French oak before release, emerging dark and structured from the 2021 vintage.
The nose carries dark fruit (currant, blackberry) threaded with herbal and mineral notes, garrigue and boldo leaf, with oak providing backbone. On the palate it's dry and juicy at once, with tannins that grip without overwhelming, moving toward a mouthwatering finish. The 2021 Milla Cala is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Carménère, 7% Syrah, 5% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, sourced from Millahue in the Cachapoal Valley. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels toasted on the property, this dark purple wine reveals complex aromas of currant, blackberry, garrigue , boldo and ash, all set against an oaky backdrop. On the palate, it is dry and juicy, with reactive tannins and a faintly clingy mouthfeel leading to a rich and mouthwatering experience. This is a well-crafted Chilean red made in a cold vintage.
