Among Italy's white grapes, Verdicchio has a reputation for holding its own over time, and the Riserva designation here (a step up from the standard Castelli di Jesi bottling) signals a wine built with that longevity in mind. This is the 2021 from Villa Bucci, grown in the Classico heart of the Castelli di Jesi zone in the Marche, on the Adriatic side of central Italy. Verdicchio tends toward citrus and orchard fruit with a characteristic bitter-almond note on the finish, and the extra structure of a Riserva gives it room to develop.
