Nebbiolo grown in the Barolo zone of Piedmont, bottled by Vite Colte under its 'Paesi Tuoi' label, this is a classic northwestern Italian red from the 2021 vintage. Nebbiolo is the grape behind Barolo, known for its pale garnet color that belies a firm structure, with the tannin and bright acidity that let these wines evolve gracefully over time.
Floral profile, focused on fresh violets, red cherries, licorice and smoke. Medium-bodied with firm, dusty tannins and chewy acidity in the finish. Try after 2026. (James Suckling, January 2025)
The 2021 Barolo Paesi Tuoi is a dark brick red color and reveals a more introspective feel on the nose, with sappy notes of blackberries, polished leather, balsamic herbs, and sweet tobacco. The palate is angular and structured, with its more savory orange peel citrus and spice taking the lead, and it has grippy tannins, fresh acidity, and an earthy finish. It demands a few more months in bottle, then I would recommend drinking it over the next 5-6 years, as it falls off and leaves a gripping feel on the finish. (Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025)
