Description

Marlborough has built its reputation on Sauvignon Blanc that arrives with bright acidity and herbaceous lift, and this 2025 from Whitehaven Wine Company works squarely in that tradition. Grown in New Zealand's South Island and bottled as a still white under screw cap, it sits at 13% alcohol. Whitehaven is a member of Appellation Marlborough Wine, and the fruit here is handled to keep things clean and unembellished.

The aromatics come on piercing and intense, all sweet lemon, green apple, lime, and a savory whiff of brine and crushed chalk. On the palate it stays pure and focused, with passion fruit and pineapple husk threading through a saline core, and acidity that rings out clear and cold. There's an attractive savory undertone too, balanced against the fruit, the kind of medium-bodied freshness that reads as both precise and seductive. Ready to enjoy now.

The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is piercing and intense, laden with juicy, sweet lemon, green apple and brine. On the palate, the wine is pure and pristine, focused and saline, with a slew of passion fruit and pineapple husk. The acidity is like a bell tolling on a cold morning. There are some attractive savory elements here too. It's excellent. Whitehaven is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. (Wine Advocate, April 2026)

This has a clean, mineral nose with fresh limes, green guavas, sliced apples and crushed chalk. Very pretty and balanced with medium body and clean acidity. Flavorful and seductive. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap. (James Suckling, October 2025)
