Description

Few white wines announce their origin as clearly as Sauvignon Blanc grown in Marlborough, on the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, where the variety builds bright acidity and a herbaceous, citrus-driven lift. This 2025 from Whitehaven Wine Company, a member of Appellation Marlborough Wine, is a still white sealed under screw cap at 13% alcohol, made in the region's transparent, fruit-forward style.

Expect something piercing and precise, full of juicy lemon, green apple, and a streak of brine. The palate is pure and focused, saline through the middle, with passion fruit and pineapple husk arriving alongside a savory edge that keeps it from reading as simple. Notes of fresh lime, green guava, and crushed chalk round out the picture. The acidity is the spine here, clean and bright, and the wine drinks beautifully now.

The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is piercing and intense, laden with juicy, sweet lemon, green apple and brine. On the palate, the wine is pure and pristine, focused and saline, with a slew of passion fruit and pineapple husk. The acidity is like a bell tolling on a cold morning. There are some attractive savory elements here too. It's excellent. Whitehaven is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. (Wine Advocate, April 2026)

This has a clean, mineral nose with fresh limes, green guavas, sliced apples and crushed chalk. Very pretty and balanced with medium body and clean acidity. Flavorful and seductive. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap. (James Suckling, October 2025)
